Our selection of 6 exciting wines to try in the month of October. This month we’ve responded to the season change and cooler weather, and put together a selection that showcases some of the more interesting red varietals alongside a Vinho Verde for those last rays of sunshine and a Sicilian Grillo with it’s uplifting aromatics.


Here’s what you can expect from the October Wine Pack:


NATTE VALLEY CINSAULT – Perfumed & juicy with a sun-soaked savouriness, depth & energy! This is modern South African wine from The Cape, farmed sustainably and using low intervention winemaking, it’s a full, ripe red with a creamy, rounded palate. One that slips down very easily on one of these colder evenings.


ALTOLANDAN BOBAL (Organic) – A deep cherry Spanish red with violet tints. Nose is intense with aromas of ripe red seasonal fruit (cherries, blackberries, blackcurrant), subtle hints of violets, rosemary and a touch of black pepper. This Bobal shows distinctive power, vibrant fruit, freshness with soft and ripe tannin. It is spicy and juicy with a well rounded palate with a fascinating crunchy-fruit freshness. The finish is gently tannic combined excellent depth.


JEREMIE HUCHET GAMAY / PINOT NOIR – Fun blend of Gamay and Pinot noir, comparable to a great Beaujolais Villages, but without any of the ‘bubblegum’ notes those wines sometimes suggest.  Fresh, unctuous and juicy, with elegance and depth. Also lovely lightly chilled.


COLOMBA BIANCA GRILLO (Organic) – We’re big fans of Sicilian wines here, they seem to constantly deliver Organic wines at great value prices. Here this new Grillo is floral with notes of jasmine and white flowers, fruity with green apple, pear, pineapple and citrus fruits. Pleasantly fresh, mineral, smooth, balanced and persistent.

Colomba Bianca is a cooperative in Sicily with a focus on Organic farming, they engage a philosophy of micro-viticulture and micro-winemaking to ensure the ultimate precision, quality and expression of terroir. Their sights firmly fixed on the future of Sicilian wine.


CHIN CHIN VINHO VERDE – Crazy popular wine here at Cork & Cask! Quinta do Ermizio ‘Chin Chin’ is a dry, fresh, fun interpretation of the classic Vinho Verde Blend. Bright notes of pear & nectarine are balanced by its coastal salinity & slight spritz.


VENTA LA VEGA TINTO (Organic) – Fresh and fruity with flavours of red currant, raspberry and red cherry, with a mineral finish. A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah from limestone soils, at an altitude of 850m. These characteristics are enhanced by harvesting the grapes at night and fermenting in stainless steel containers. The wine is matured for 3 months in French Oak before bottling.
