We did not want to make this pack only full of sunshine wines as the weather is always changeable & we didn’t want to tempt fate!
There is a great mix of red, white, rose, sparkling & even a French cider.
A bottle for every eventuality & showcasing some new wines that have just joined the range.
As always we like to include things in the pack that are food friendly & are not things you would always pick off the shelves yourself… a chance to try some grapes & regions you may have not before.
Delivery is FREE on all the wine packs whether you are local in Edinburgh or based in mainland UK.
This month’s wine pack includes:
Farneto Rosso (Italy) – A delicious slightly more serious food friendly sparkling red. This is farmed organically & made with minimal intervention in the winery. This comes across almost like a light sparkling red with flavours of damson & cherry. Fruity yet dry. Summery yet serious. Crack a bottle in the park or garden with BBQ sausages.
Lectores Vini Pomagrana (Spain)- A very light fresh red wine made from the Trepat grape variety. Shows delicious flavours of crunchy red berried fruits, light citrus & white pepper. This is made with organic grapes & is vegan friendly. This bottle is best served lightly chilled.
Camparo Langhe Rosso Red (Italy) – 50% Dolcetto, 25% Nebbiolo and 25% Barbera hand harvested cultivated from the Bettola vineyard which is centred around the ancient town of Alba. Red fruit dominant with cherry & mocha flavours coming through. A fuller bodied red in the pack but with the fresh acidity that wines from this region of Italy show, it makes them great with richer pasta dishes & meat. Organic.
Muret Midi Rose (France) A brand new wine in the range that we tasted last week & loved so much we ordered it on the spot! We already have other great wines from this winemaker so we had high hopes for his light bright Rose. This winery is organic & vegan friendly with a focus on working biodynamically as well. When you pour a glass of this expect fresh watermelon & strawberries on the nose & palate.
Adega de Moncao Vinho Verde (Portugal) – A very popular wine with the people of Marchmont! This Portuguese classic seems like the perfect glass in any hot weather. A super summery, ripe, aromatic & refreshing zippy citrus filled Vinho Verde. With classic spritz & vibrant sherbet notes. Great with food or as an aperitif. It has refreshing acidity to go along with fish & chips, Moules mariniere or just with friends.
Louis Lauriston Cider (France)- Here at Cork & Cask we are big cider fans & the cider section has been overflowing with bottles from England, Scotland, France & Sweden. I believe we included a cider in the first monthly pack we did & it had a divisive reaction! We hope that after a year of growing the range & of singing cider’s praises it is a perfect time to showcase another. Louis Lauriston is a beautiful example of Normandie cider & at just 5%. The nose is rich and has notes of fermented overripe red apples and apricot with a touch of wood and vanilla. It has lemon-like acidity on the palate, notes of wood, red overripe apples and seeds. There is delicate bitterness with a wonderful finish that is dry and with a pleasant lingering taste of red apples.
