Description
This a two pack of light French Reds:
BOULANGER & ALLANTE AMALGAME 2022
The cuvée Almagamé comes from the plot Vigne Au Daim in Gizia – Christian and Mathieu took over the parcel from a local elder in 2011 and co-planted many different varieties. “Virtually extinct Jura vine” is how Jancis, Julia and José describe the petit béclan in their book of reference Wine Grapes. Planted with some gamay, pinot, trousseau, and poulsard on a steep slope, its small bunches and thick skin bring rusticity to this unique Jura blend. Totally destemmed and co-fermented, aged in 300ltr barriques for 12 months, it has a dense and grippy structure with ripe black fruit and moreish acids.
ROMAIN LE BARS LES VESTIDES TAVEL
Deep, dark, plush yet effortless. Tavel is a pink wine appellation in the Southern Rhone, but in terms of how the wines play, it’s way more light red than what you’d usually call pink. Herbal and menthol notes float alongside beautiful red fruits. Romain runs a tiny 1.5 hectare estate in Gard, in the southern Rhône region. Since his first vintage in 2018 he has slowly acquired more land, meaning there is more wine available for us. Romain spent 7 years working with winemaker Eric Pfifferling at Domaine de L’Anglore, prior to that assisted Matthieu Vallée at Château Yvonne. Romain works, mostly, with Carignan, Grenache and Syrah, and vinifies in old wood using little to no sulphur. His wines are about drinkability and he is really showing mastery of carbonic maceration. Incredible and extremely limited wines, from a rising star in the South of France.
