Simply made and easily enjoyed light red from the Brand brothers in Bockenheim.
Portugeiser, foot crushed and left to mascerated for a couple of days, before heading to old barrels. Light, cruchy and vibrant. It’s not nouveau but it suits picnics, cheese and BYOB dinners beautifully. A fun but balanced wine.
Fifth-generation winemaker Daniel Brand first brought organic production to his Bockenheim family farm in 2007 and – joined by brother Jonas – started producing wines without sulphur in 2014. In 2015 they came high in the race to bottle the first official German Pet-Nat. Riesling and Pinot Blanc dominate. Their 16 hectares are on loam with a lot of shell limestone. Sulphur only on Riesling Vom Berg, ageing in a mix of stainless steel and only very old wood for their Pur wines.
