Description

A deep ruby red and oodles of ripe black cherry and thyme really jump out the glass. On the palate, it’s smooth and well-balanced and generous. Grown in the warm Sicilian sun, it’s a bold, delicious and very drinkable expression of the island’s flagship grape.

Caruso & Minini is a bold fusion of old-world Sicilian roots and fresh northern flair, born in the sun-drenched hills near Marsala. Vineyards overlook the Egadi Islands and thrive in amongst a Mediterranean setting rich with salt pans, pink ponds, and windmills. They craf everything from zesty whites to brilliant bright reds, skin-contact orange wines and, of course, Marsala.

The winery set in a beautifully restored 1900s baglio, runs on innovation, passion, and family pride. The experience is pure, soulful Sicily. Modern, vibrant, and unforgettable.

Vines are grown between 200–450m on calcareous-clay soils—once a riverbed—strewn with heat-deflecting stones called cuti. These magical stones impart a brilliant minerality on the grapes as well as soaking up the suns heat and transferring this to the vines, promoting an earlier ripening and benefitting acidity and freshness. Organic farming is practiced throughout supporting biodiversity, with native flowers and plants enriching the vineyard ecosystem and enhancing soil vitality. VINIFICATION Grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks over 12 days at 26–28°C to helping to preserve freshness and character. Malolactic fermentation follows, sofening the wine’s texture and then the wines is aged for around three months, in stainless steel to help to balance the wines profile.

Versatile and very food-friendly, this wine pairs beautifully with grub from across the Mediterranean – from minestrone to melanzane parmigiana to meatballs.
