Description
Chapel Down Brut NV presents with a pale straw color and fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is fresh and inviting, offering aromas of red apple, citrus zest, and hints of freshly baked brioche. On the palate, it is crisp and elegant, with notes of apple, strawberry, and quince, balanced by a bright acidity and a clean, mineral-driven finish.
Chapel Down is one of England’s most prominent wine producers, located in Tenterden, Kent. Known for pioneering English sparkling wine, the estate crafts its Brut NV using the traditional method, blending Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and a touch of Pinot Blanc. Grapes are sourced from vineyards across Kent, Essex, East Sussex, and Dorset, where the chalky and clay-rich soils closely resemble those of Champagne.
The winery follows certified sustainable viticulture practices, with a strong focus on environmental responsibility. In the cellar, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with partial malolactic fermentation to enhance texture and complexity. The wine is matured on fine lees in tank for six months and then aged for a minimum of 18 months in bottle. The result is a refined, expressive sparkling wine that showcases the potential of English terroir.
