Description
Rich in aromas, ripe black fruits. Notes of pepper, liquorice, thyme and notes of garrigue. Cover crops are used over winter, and sheep graze between the vines in summer. The vineyards face north on the Massif de Fontfroide, and vines are planted on decomposed sandstone. Fermentations are spontaneous with natural yeasts, and wines are vinified without additions.
Nicolas and his wife Karine farm 25 hectares of vines in Corbières, not far from the Mediterranean sea in the South of France. Having previously sold the grapes off to local negociants, Nicolas took over his family Domaine in 2000, beginning a painstaking conversion to organic and biodynamic viticulture. ‘Campana’ is the Occitan word for bell, which sits above the main house, and the winery adorns the labels of their ‘house’ wines—Campana Blanc, Rouge et Rosé.
