Description
A medium to full bodied Malbec from the Loire Valley. Generous fruit and fine, firm tannins are the order of the day.
Dark purple color with a nose marked by blackberry and currant aromas with some voilet notes. The mouth is full of fresh black fruits with spicy notes (pepper, licorice) and even tobacco) it’s a full bodied wine suitable for ageing.
The vineyards are clay based with sandy soils, they sit on the hright of the commune of Saint-Aignan-sur Cher and the vines are an average of 30 years old. This is vinified in stainless steel before ageing in wooden casks for a minimum of 12 months.
Complices de Loire is a joint venture between François-Xavier Barc and Gérald Vallée, two vine growers and winemakers from the Loire Valley. Originating from the Loire area, François-Xavier Barc studied in the Chinon and Saint-Emilion wine regions. Surrounded by winegrowers who share the same philosophy and passion for good wine, he has created around 15 cuvées divided into three different wine ranges. Gérald Vallée comes from a long line of winemakers and also manages his family-owned estate Domaine de la Cotelleraie situated in the heart of Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil.
