Description

A Chianti in style but not name, this wine has been declassified by Fattoria di Sammontano as they found the Chianti laws too restrictive for their chosen winemaking style.

Made with no suphur additions and from 100% Sangiovese from alluvial soils within the DOC region of Chianti. A

Unlike many Chianti-style wines this Sangiovese has not been oak aged which means it retains the fruit flavours and aromas. Naturally fermented and aged in concrete tanks for 6 to 8 months then aged in bottle for 3 months before release. It’s a great example of the style: a young, early drinking Sangiovese, elegant and fresh with clean crunchy fruit and soft tannins.

Connor recently enjoyed this sangiovese alongside duck ragu; the sour cherry notes and slight savouriness of the wine were a terrific boon to the richness of the red sauce!
