100% single plot Viura aged in 2nd use American oak. This wine is the joint effort of Michelin star chef Felix Jimenez of KIRO SUSHI and Rioja producer, Familia Otanon, and is their attempt to create the ultimate wine pairing for sushi. They have since made a red cuvee under the same Akemi (Japanese for bright and beautiful) label, and Chef Jiminez stands by them both to such an extent that they are the only wines on his list. 

This is aromatic white Rioja with very well integrated oak. On the nose there is candied rhubarb with a fresh, juicy nectarine hint. These fruits mingle on the palate with the oak influence to give a vanilla custardy kind of feel which is kept very much in check by great acidity and mouthwatering minerality. By all means taste test this with sushi, as it was intended, but dont be afraid to branch out as this would make a killer accompaniment to a whole host of boldly flavoured dishes.
