Description

Freisa is a native variety grown in Castiglione Falletto and a variety of which more and more producers, like Franco Conterno, continue to experiment.

The Freisa Cascina Sciulun is aged in steel tanks, where the wine remains for three months before bottling. Aromas are light and fruity – sour cherry and wild forest berries – but with herbaceous notes of sage, green olives and tar. Exciting freshness to the palate with grippy tannins.

A Freisa of this quality is a rare treat.

Azienda Franco Conterno is located in the heart of the Langhe, in the hamlet of Bussia di Monforte d’Alba. The estate’s oldest vines were planted by Pietro Conterno before being passed on to his son Giacomo, who later passed it on to his nephew Franco, who took over in 1996. Today the winery is run by Franco, his wife Vilma and their two sons Andrea and Daniele, together with his wife Emina. The family continues to honour the legacy of Pietro by producing authentic, world-class wines that reflect the area’s exceptional microclimate and terroir.
