Description
A 5 YO Inchfad matured in a Refill Hogshead and finished in and vatted from various American and European Oak Oloroso and PX bloodtubs. Inchfad is the name given to heavily peated malt distilled at Loch Lomond distillery and gets its name from an island in the South East of the famous loch which houses a derelict distillery. While it was used as the name for a set of official distillery releases in the 2000s, it is now used primarily blending purposes and only gets to shine in single-malt form through indpendent bottlings, such as this fiery, smokey-sweet release from Woodrows.
The nose shows bonfire smoke, leather, white wine vinegar with a dark fruit sweetness of plums and cherries. O the palate, there’s vibrant with charcoal, tobacco, coffee and malt biscuits with sticky toffee and blackcurrant jam, and the finish lingers with earthy peat, roasted pine nuts and warming spice.
