‘Hearach’ is the Scots Gaelic name for a native of the Isle of Harris. The eagerly anticipated first release of Single Malt Whisky from the Isle of Harris distillery.
The Hearach is lightly peated to between 12-15ppm, it has been made up using whiskies matured in a combionation of First Fill bourbon barrel, Oloroso Sherry Cask and Fino Sherry cask. The malted barley is 100% Scottish and sourced through three different maltsters: Bairds Malts in Inverness, Crisps Malts in Alloa and Port Gordon, and Boortmalt in Buckie.
13,000 bottles released worldwide. That seems like a lot but for a distillery as popular as Harris and a whisky that’s been anticipated for years now, this one might not stick around.
