New Year, New Wine Pack! Here it is, the 2024 starter pack. Six wines for cosy hangouts with friends, nights infront of the telly with snacks, and tasty bottles to bring to BYOB restaurants.
Meinklang Epic Frizzante: An explosive cuveé of Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner & Muskat Sparkling wine from spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. No filtration. Super accessible and casual. From the Meinklang farm in Burgenland, Austria. Tasty, easy drinking fizz with fresh orchard fruit, crisp acidity and a touch of chamomile.
Adega de Moncao Vinho Verde: Made form a 50/50 blend of Alvarinho and Trajadura. There is a small amount of CO2 spritz in the wine and it has a ripe, aromatic nose of peach and apricot, bone dry on the palate which finishes very clean and crisp. The wines from this northerly sub-region are a little riper and more complex than the classic Vinho Verde style.
Entero Macabeo: An organically produced Macabeo with character! Lifted, orange blossom and tropical fruit aromas offer an immediate abundance of personality, followed by ripe citrus acidity and textural quality to the palate. A joyful, clean, crisp and easy drinking white.
Te Quiero Rojo: A wonderful field blend of red grape varieties. This is mostly Syrah and Tempranillo but includes a few others in the mix. Deep purple colour. Rich ripe, spiced and brambly fruit, pure and mouthfilling with round tannins, and a lively finish.
Il Farneto Berzmein: A soft and juicy red from the Marzemino grape, natural winemaking, 12 months ageing before bottling and loaded with red berries and spices. Fermented 8 days on skins in concrete tanks before moving to old tonneaux for a year. From mineral rich soils 250m above sea level near Modena.
Immortelle Rouge: A rich, opulent and fascinating from the Roussillon. Complex aromas of spice and clove on the nose. The palate is fleshy and mouth filling with attractive dark fruits, plum and cassis. Overall, it has impressive minerality and a fine structure. It pairs perfectly with red meats or roasted game, casseroles and hard cheeses. From 100 year-old Carignan, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre vines. 70% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre,10% Grenache and 10% Carignan
