Vibrant with red berry aromatics, rhubarb and blackberry with a touch of dark chocolate. Refreshing with ripe and very pure fruit character rolling onto a refined palate with smooth tannins. A shining example of very well made beaujolais from one of the top producers working today.
Jean & three other local winemakers, Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thévenet & Guy Breton, are iconic figures in the natural wine movement. This Gang of Four, as they became known, called for a return to the old more natural practices of viticulture & vinification: starting with old vines, never using chemical herbicides or pesticides, harvesting late, rigorously sorting to remove all but the healthiest grapes, adding minimal doses of sulfur dioxide or none at all. Despite his association with the movement, Jean produces precise and extremely fault free wines of aromatic purity and elegance.
