This wine pack has Summer & sunshine written all over it! Six versatile wines you could take away with you on a UK trip, fill the fridge for BBQ’s & friends visiting or simply relax with in the less predictable evenings.

This pack contains a whopping 5 new arrivals and 1 old favourite that’s shines in July. We hope you’ll enjoy exploring these new wines we’ve tasted and discovered this month.

Inside you will find:

A joint project from two wine trade friends: New Zealand Winemaker Ben Glover, and Master of Wine Liam Steevenson. They’ev selected a combination of Chardonnay clones, hand-picked and pressed directly into both old French oak puncheons and clay amphora. Spontaneous, wild yeast fermentation and malolactic send the now two wines in different directions only to find union at blending.

The wine shows aromas of green apple, stone-fruit and flint, mirrored on the palate but with a mineral tension and a lingering nutty finish. Adventurous winemaking results in a texturally different wine, a wine with depth and complexity, not fined and filtered, an excellent organic New Zealand Chardonnay.

Easy going but very moreish white, crisp and fresh. The aromatics are very enticing, and on the palate the wine is soft yet generous. A perfect every day wine that should please all tastes. Mainly Garnacha Blanca with some Viura.

Made by Maria, Dani, and Fernando, a dynamic trio who slowly converted an abandoned cooperative building in their village of Carcastillo to a fully operational winery. A huge commitment to biodiversity in the vines leads to wines of pronounced purity. Great tip toe into a slightly textured style, for easing friends towards Orange wine and perfect picnic sipping.

Our new Prosecco, we’re very chuffed with it. This one had 15% Chardonnay in the mix, along with 85% Glera (AKA the Prosecco grape). Extra-dry, this arresting spumante has aromas of peach and pear with a floral lift of white blossom. Just the right amount of acidity adds freshness and drive, whilst not hindering the generous fruit which makes such a delicious Prosecco. The perfect aperitif, this wine is a brilliant accompaniment to a bowl of almonds, a plate of salami or added to a tasty Spritz.

The old favourite. We’ve been championing this wee organic Sicilian Grillo for a few years now and it never fails to deliver. It’s made from hand picked Grillo grapes from the hills surrounding the town of Marsala.

Elegant aromas of exotic flowers and tropical fruits. The glass is full of nectarine & ripe citrus… like walking through a Mediterranean lemon tree field with some lemon balm growing in the hedgerow! Perfect with shellfish, calamari, white meat or just on it’s own!

The blend of Grenache and Cinsault is a great success! This wine has inviting aromas of strawberry, blackcurrant, red cherry and rose. Sits well alongside a picnic, BBQ, charcuterie board, roasted vegetable salad with lots of herbs.

This light juicy summery red is made with the juice of the grapes trampled by feet (“Les Pieds Rouges meaning “The red feet”) then fermented in barrels: with a short maceration and fermentation without added sulfur. This red is all about light fresh fruit with refreshing acidity, low tannins & an easy drinking style.

Luc Lapeyre’s vineyards are in Minervois but this is one of his freshest brightest cuvee’s unlike the usual Minervois style. Grapes from organic farming, natural yeast and no added sulfites. Unfined and unfiltered wine.

From one of the ‘cru’ villages of Burgundy, Fleurie, this wine has all the freshness and delicacy you’d expect from a Gamay but with some developing dried fruit notes adding depth and complexity. This leads to a wines brimming with strawberries and cherries and a little chalky minerality but also some more structure and leafy dried fruit notes.  Look for deeper sour cherry notes, tobacco maybe, and just a hint of smoke.

The grapes are hand-picked, 65% de-stemmed and undergo daily pigeage; maceration lasts approximately 10 days followed by a 9 month ageing in top quality oak barrels and vat.

So there you have it, the 2023 July Wine Pack, 6 wines to explore, share and enjoy while relaxing a little.
