June is officially the start of Summertime, we hope the weather gets the memo! It’s been a strong start but as I am writing this the clouds are rolling over!

Here is a wine pack full of new things that we recently tried & loved. Great value, tasty wines & fun labels for our shelves & your wine pack. Inadvertantly we have created a nearly all Frech pack with a Portuguese creeping in! We hope you enjoy this French themed pack with some if the best known regions & grapes featuring.

Nothing says British summer like strawberries & raspberries & some of these wines are packed full of these flavours too! A bowl of Scottish red berries in a glass, or a slice of Summer Pudding. We have not forgotten the quintessential Summer activity of BBQ’ing – come rain or shine we love to cook outside where possible. These wines will be great for entertaining & sharing in the garden. Easy, breezy, crowd pleasers for fun June times!

The wine pack includes:

Departement Blanquette de Limoux Sparkling Cremant (France)

With its soft mouthfeel & distinct green apple fruit character, this Blanquette de Limoux from Languedoc, is a benchmark example of the world’s original traditional method sparkling wine.  The lower dosage, one of only three grams, lifts the wine & shows a salinity to accompany the fresh green apple & gorgeous mouthfeel. Super fresh, extra brut dryness & lovely apple & pear flavours make this a great sunshine sparkler.

Passatempo Vinho Verde (Portugal)

A vibrant Vinho Verde showing citrus, white flowers, subtle passionfruit & lots of mineral freshness. Well balanced throughout, the finish is long & fruity, yet marvellously crisp.

We have seen the astronomical rise of Vinho Verde as a go-to white wine in the last few years, its lime zest, sherbety citrus & light spritz make it lip smackingly refreshing. It seems to evoke holiday memories!

Pairs well with Mediterranean white fish, fresh vegetables, light starters & picky bits in the sun.

Darriaud Cotes du Rhones Blanc (France)

A beautiful & elegant white Côtes du Rhône. On the nose herbaceous & floral, with fresh fennel & honeysuckle. The palate is a delicate balance of ripe stone fruits & pear. Textured & structured whilst remaining fresh & inviting. This is a fuller softer style of Summery white that will pair great alongside a roast chicken, shellfish, risotto’s… very versatile.

The Notes Gamay (France)

Sweet berry wine! Not sweet in sugar but sweet in fruitiness & smoothness while drinking. A real crowd pleaser of lighter Summery red made with the famous Beaujolais grape.

This has bright, ripe blueberries, strawberries & red cherry. Super seductive fruit & pretty balanced palate. A very easy drinker that keeps things just serious enough with fine grape tannins & a balancing acidity.

This needs no food but would be lovely with a charcuterie board & pate or more fragrant aromatic meat dishes such as pork souvlaki & pomegranate roast chicken. Delicious.

La Ruine Pinot Noir (France)

Elegant, Southern French Pinot Noir. Fruit forward, beautifully balanced & bright, with red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry & blackberry. There is a lifted, soft floral character on the finish. An easy drinker at a great price, this will be your new favourite weekday Pinot Noir for sure.

Immortelle Rouge Cotes du Roussillon 2019 (France)

This is your big BBQ red for summertime, even if the sun shines the evenings are still cool & as the sun is setting friends can gather round the fire pit or BBQ to eat some cold charred sausages & sip this deeper red.

From 100 year-old Carignan, Grenache, Syrah & Mourvèdre grapes from Southern France.

A rich, opulent & fascinating wine with complex aromas of spice & clove. The palate is fleshy & mouth filling with attractive dark fruits, plum, brambles & cassis.
