Firstly we have Domaine de la Tournelle “Fleur de Savagnin” Vieux Ouille 2018:
Fleur de Savagnin Domaine de la Tournelle, biodynamic Jura wine, grey marne soils, 18 months in topped up barrels to prevent oxidation. An elegant non oxidative style of this amazing grape variety. The Fleur de Savagnin has classic varietal aromas of pith and salty white fruits and apple with a note of something earthy or cheesy. On the palate, it is medium bodied with a great acidity and slight salty twang. A fantastic pairing with older Comte cheese.
Joining Tournelle is Domaine Labet “MacVin du Jura” 2019:
Macvin du Jura is produced in the Jura region of eastern France. We call this wine in a very loose way as it is fortified. The juice and must of Savagnin grapes are reduced in half by boiling, and the resulting liquid is then fortified with the marc or brandy. Once the wine reaches 16% alcohol by volume it is placed in oak casks to age for at least 18 months in old casks. A deicious and complex dessert style wine, excellent for food pairings.
