Description
This release is batch 3 of this unique 40-year-old blend which was distilled in 1984 and matured until 1998, before being blended and laid down to marry in refill sherry butts. Earlier this year Living Souls decanted one of these sherry butts into 4 ex-Islay quarter casks and then vatted back together before bottling at its natural cask strength of 44.6%. Here, gentle smoke adds a savoury edge, grounding the tropical sweetness with a touch of fire and spice. The Islay quarter cask finish has added an extra layer of peat and sweetness compared to batches #1 & #2 of our 40yo blend.
