Description
A new cuvée from Alberto, this is his most textural, mouth filling wine, bottled with a touch of residual sugar to fuse its acidity. It has notes of lime juice, lemon jelly, sea salt and a dash of acacia flower.
O Bocoi Vello sources its fruit from three separate vineyard plots, each with its own distinctive character: there are two plots in the Sanxenxo village, the Ferreira vineyard and the Salgueira vineyard, and another plot in the Meaño village: plot Choqueira. The soil types and aspects are different in each plot, with a mix of sandy, clay and decomposed soils and northeast, western and southeaster orientation respectively.
Clusters are selected by hand in the vineyards and quickly transported to the winery in 15kg crates. Grapes were not de-stemmed before going into a pneumatic press for a low pressure pressing. Fermented with wild yeasts, then aged on lees for 9 months in old 800-litre chestnut barrels with weekly bâtonnage for the first month. Unfined and bottled with low levels of SO2.
