The full December Wine Pack. 12 bottles to see you through the festivities.

This Pack includes the whole Decmeber 6 Pack and a further 6 bottle selection. This pack contains:

Domaine Capmartin Lou Piaf: A fresh wine that is full of life, with crisp apple and pear fruit aromas, which mingle with delicate floral notes. On the palate the wine is lifted by subtle exotic notes of kiwi and pineapple, yet the overwhelming character is that of precision, linear minerality and elegance.

Heinrich Naked Rose: Pink Blaufränkisch from Weingut Henrich in Burgenland, Austria. This is tasty, with far more bang for your buck than you’ll find in Provence at this price point. Biodynamic fruit, wild yeast ferment & a few months spent on the lees has provided us with bright red fruited intensity & a lovely texture.

Bodegas Las Orcas Decenio Crianza Rioja 2016: This wine has had 14 months in French oak barrels & then at least, 12 months in bottle. The nose displays attractive aromas dark cherries & cedar along with ripe black fruits, balsamic touches, with a spicy hint of coconut & liquorice.. On the palate it is well balanced with nice tannic structure & fruit concentration. It has a long & pleasant finish with the oak flavours well integrated with the fruit flavours.

ERA Organic Prosecco: Produced from organically grown Glera grapes grown in the area around Treviso. This pale and delicate sparkling wine has fine bubbles and fresh aromas of green fruits, elderflower and honeysuckle. It is elegantly light, dry and well balanced.

Domaine D’Altugnac Turitelles Pinot Noir: The Pinot Noir Turitelles is perfumed with fine spices (nutmeg and cinnamon), mocha, and Montmorency cherry. Its texture finds its balance in a generous flavour that is felt in a velvety tannin highlighting the finesse of the grape variety. Burgundy like in style but at more accessible price point.

Domane Wachau Beerenauslese: A blend of Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and Gelber Muskateller from terraced vineyards throughout the Wachau. The wine reflects the elegant and precise style and character of Wachau sweet wines.
This shows intense fruit flavours, forest honey, exotic fruits, physalis, mango, passion fruit, subtle hints of citrus, wild herbs. The palate is sweet and harmonious with refreshing acidity. This is a very expressive sweet wine with a long finish.

Plus the main December 6 pack which consists of:

Sebastian Brunet Rocherie Brut Vouvray (France): made in methode traditionelle, the same as Champagne but from the Loire Valley region of France using Chenin Blanc. This is the perfect aperitif – A refreshing fruit driven Crémant with a touch on acacia. It is dry on the palate with lovely elegant bubbles & green apple & white blossom. This bottle would be ideal with smoked salmon blini’s on Christmas morning or fish & chips when you need a treat but are fed up of cooking!

Our must try on the Sparkling is Meinklang Foam Weis Pet Nat (Austria) – A beautiful sparkling from one of our favourite natural producers. We feel that we have championed Meinklang for years now & they deserved a place in the Chistmas box! This has become a shop favourite for an alternative sparkling recommendation. Meinklang make this 100% Pinot Gris Pet Nat from hand picked biodynamic fruit grown on their farm in Burgunland, Austria.

Fantastic, crisp & full of aromatic ripe green fruit, this pours a hazy slightly pink/orange colour & has a nose like blood orange & grapefruit. The colour comes from a short maceration on the skins while the juice is being pressed, Pinot Gris is a pink tinged variety so they give this natural colour. It is full flavoured but completely dry. This would be a great talking point to share with friends or enjoy with some fragrant spicy food, like Thai or Mexican flavours!

Albamar Albarino (Spain) This is made by Xurxo Alba, one of the most talented young winemakers in the region, well respected by fellow leading winemakers, who positively fizzes with energy and ideas. The vines come from many different plots, planted in sandy, granitic soils close to the Atlantic (in places 25m away) and his main production is of this delicious wine, one of the very few albariño in the region to be made via natural, indigenous yeasts. 95% cuve aged, and pressed from whole clusters, Xurxo didn’t let the wine go through malolactic to preserve acidity. He’s always looking for transparency, acidity and freshness, and this wine mixes a delicious mineral vibration with a dense core of fruit with a marked salinity on the finish.

Mas D’agalis Grand Carre (France) Primarily Terret, with some Chenin, Clairette, and Vermentino. A proper Southern French white but without the weight or warmth. This is soft, delicate, and lightly perfumed. The perfect balance of texture, minerality, and freshness. Absolutely delightful.

And onto the reds, featuring some brilliant bottles hailing from & inspired by the Rhone Valley in France. Classic, traditional & tasty but with an interesting Cork & Cask twist. Save them for Christmas Day or enjoy in the run up!

Domaine de Ferrand Mistral Cotes du Rhone (France) Mistral refers to the local northern wind, it is made from young to 40yo vines located on sandy slopes between Châteauneuf and Orange, Philippe kept 20% whole bunches, and the much higher proportion of syrah opens up the wine and makes it perfect for drinking on the fruit. Cuve aged and bottled early in June the fruit is delectable – spicy cherry and raspberry with very silky tannins.

Qupe Santa Barbara Syrah (USA) Qupé focuses on cool climate expressions of Rhône varietals along the Central Coast of Santa Barbara Country. Due to a their positioning, right next to the cool Pacific Ocean, they are set apart from most other regions of California. This shows an immediately attractive deep purple colour leading into aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and coffee followed by a savory palate with a spicy smoky character and refreshing acidity. The balanced alcohol gives the wine a suppleness that makes it an easy drinker. Rich yet balanced. A triumph of excellent winemaking!
