With our woolen jumpers on & our wee shop heater working overtime, we thought we would focus on a selection of wines to help inspire you for the upcoming festive season. These six are great for sharing with food or gifting when you need a speedy last minute present!

This pack is available for FREE SHIPPING UK wide.

This month’s pack includes:

3 Whites, 2 Reds & a delicious Sparkling.

CUVEE FRANCOISE CREMANT DE LIMOUX (France)

A sparkling in the monthly wine pack! It must be nearly Christmas! This beautifully colourful labelled bottle is full of vibrant greengage & white flower aromas. This fruit & floral nose combines with a hint of lemon curd, giving the wine a fresh, vibrant appeal. These are reflected on the palate with an additional mineral character, finely structured acidity & persistent bubbles elevating the flavours.

Perfect as an aperitif or to accompany pan-fried white fish & with sufficient acidity to cut through creamy sauces. Cremant de Limoux is made in the same method as Champagne but from a more Southern French region, using Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc & Mauzac grapes.

A very attractive & delicious Champagne alternative that is more wallet friendly too!

CANTINE RALLO EVRO INSOLIA (Sicily)

We have been championing Rallo winery in Siciy for years now & this Insolia (local native grape variety) was a star of a recent tasting so had to make it to the shelf. This wine has beautiful fresh citrussy notes & crisp apple. Persistent harmanious & mineral on the finish even with a slight saline edge reminding you of where it has come from. A wine that pairs as perfectly with seafood as we do with a holiday on the Sicilian coast.

The Vesco family make aromatic wines, organically grown, they focus on Sicilian grape varieties like Catarratto, Grillo, Zibibbo & Nero D’avola across different vineyard sites on the Western coast of Sicily. Well worth visiting them if you have a wee trip planned!

PRODUTTORI DEL GAVI (Italy)

A brand new organic gavi to our shop & it has been flying out of the fridge this week! Straw yellow, with a classic green tint when you pour yourself a glass. This Gavi recalls hints of acacia flowers, pear, passion fruit & pineapple. The mouth feel is sapid, long, fresh & elegant. Light weight & with good acidity. This wine is wonderfully versatile.

Along the hills of Gavi, Produttori del Gavi overlooks the historic Gavi fortress & have been making organic wine for over 65 years. This wine can be served as an aperitif, recommended with light pasta plates, fish dishes or even some delicate spice.

BODEGAS VERDE MACABEO (Spain)

Bodegas Verde is a boutique organic winery based in the high altitude village of Almonacid de la Sierra. This wine shows fine, delicate white fruit aromas, with refreshing well balanced acidity. An easy drinker showing a lovely combination of fruit & a little honeysuckle. Macabeo is a fantastic Spanish grape that can bring a little almond & beeswax element to a fresh white to give it an extra element of complexity.

FLO BUSCH HEUREUX QUI COMME (France)

A deep purple, aromatic Mediterranean red, charmingly juicy with ripe red cherry, sloes & liquorice. Nicely rounded with a freshness on the finish. We tried this recently & thought it was something pretty special. A nice treat from wine family royalty.

Florian (Flo) Busch grew up in the Mosel Valley, among vines & wine at his family Weingut Clemens Busch (his Dad happens to be a bit of a wino legend) After studying viticulture & winemaking, & working with his parents for a while, he travelled to France to gain wider experience. He started at Château de Roquefort in Provence & liked the area so much he returned over several vintages. While working at Domaine d’Auphillac, a pre-eminent biodynamic winery in the Languedoc, he met his future wife Paola, there was no way he was going back to Germany now! France was to be the base for their own dream winery.

Florian works very naturally in the vineyard, according to the principles of organics & biodynamics from the start. He ferments with natural yeasts & ages the wines in neutral vessels. The wines have a playfulness & a warmth which speaks of their Mediterranean origins, balanced by freshness & precision. This is an exciting young project, with a great pedigree & we can’t wait to see how it continues to grow. We hope this is the first of many of Flo’s wines to grace our shelves.

CLOS LOJEN BOBAL (Spain)

Pour a glass & enjoy the sweet, ripe nose with warm, plummy dark cherry & blackberry fruit & a hint of baked cherry pie. The palate is ripe & sweet but with a pronounced savoury, structured edge. Dense, mouth-filling & spicy with some drying tannins.

The Manchuela region in Spain is the spiritual home of the Bobal grape, where it maintains acidity, even in the warm, arid climate. Clos Lojen is a pure & fresh 100% Bobal from limestone soils, fermented in big oak casks. It is the perfect fuller bodied cosy red you want balancing fruit & spice.
