A new month a new monthly pack, this time with an Autumnal feel.

It is not quite themed on pumpkin spiced latte but we are inspired by cosy food, spicy reds wines & home cocktail making sessions.

It was Negroni Week recently & combined with the change of season we wanted to offer something a bit special in this month’s pack so you will find a bottle of White Port from Port of Leith Distillery here in Edinburgh.

A versatile digestif or aperitif with it’s packed with herbal, honied green apple, orange and lemon notes. It works well chilled, in a long drink with tonic or stirred down in a White Port Negroni (recipe below).

The Port itself is from the Douro Valley Portugal, but excitingly sourced by our local Port o’Leith distillery while they were hunting for suppliers for Whisky casks.

The other bottles in this months Wine Pack are:

CASA DEFRA LESSINI DURELLO An elegant non vintage sparkling wines from the hills of Lessinia. Citrus and gently floral aromas lead to a very fresh and zippy palate with crisp green apple and lightly honeyed characters. Perfect fizz to keep in the fridge for guilt free drinking.

MATETIC CORRALILLO GEWURTZTRAMINER Cool climate, biodynamic farming, sustainably focussed…there’s alot going for this Chilean Gewurtztraminer. It’s clear and bright, juicy with lychee, ginger, yellow plum and ripe stone fruits but the finish is comfortably taught which keeps it refreshing and very crowd pleasing.

ALAZANI KAKHURI RKATSITELI WHITE Rich, floral Georgian white. Produced from the selected high-quality Rkatsiteli grape variety, cultivated in the Kakheti region. Pale straw colour with amber tint. The bouquet is rich in fruit and a hint of peach. The finish is long.

AURKITU GARNACHA VINAS VIEJAS Wonderfully intense, with bright red fruits, hints of spice and beautiful texture. There is a coolness to the fruit set against the irrepressible generosity of Grenache. Beautiful new Spanish Garnacha that we recently tasted and loved.

TOURNON ‘MATHILDA’ SHIRAZ Full bodied Aussie Shiraz with smoked earth, ripe damson and cassis fruit,. There’s a touch of dark chocolate, little cigar box and more earthy fruit on the palate which is dry with dusty tannins. From famed winemaker M.Chapoutier’s Australian project. Biodynamic farming and a focus on cooler Aussie regions, that said this is still very much full bodied and perfect for cooler nights.


To help you get the most out of your White Port not only is it delicious with tonic over ice but here is your recipe for a White Port Negroni:

30ml White Port

30ml Campari

30ml Gin

Garnish with a mint sprig & lemon peel.

Stir over ice. Serve on the rocks.
