Welcome to Spring & some lighter fruitier reds to compliment the longer days of sunshine.

Natte Vallej Cinsault (South Africa)

A regional blend from four different old bush vine sites around The Cape of the Cinsault grape. Fermented up to 30% whole bunch with gentle punch-downs, it’s perfumed & juicy with a sun-soaked savouriness, depth & energy & slips down very easily. Very versatile with food as it has full flavour but soft creamy tannins. Organic.

Ciu Ciu Piceno Bacchus Rosso (Italy)

An organic Montepulciano & Sangiovese from Marche, Italy. A delightful nose of strawberry backed up with dark cherries & liquorice. This wine possesses great structure combined with an uncomplicated juiciness that whets the palate. A great pizza/pasta wine for when you need to imagine you’re on an Italian holiday!

Pom Pom Rouge (France)

A fresh natural red, medium bodied made from a spicy mix of Cinsault, Aramon & Alicante from Southern France. Full of red berries. A great value taste of Southern French grapes with the classic spice & herbal finish to accompany the fruit. An interesting bottle made with rarer grapes to be able to share with friends in gardens as the evening rolls in. Organic made with minimal intervention & no added sulphites. 

Montsable Pinot Noir (France)

The wines of Montsablé are inspired by the desire to craft elegant Burgundian Pinot Noir in Southern France. Working with growers in cooler sites of lower vigour, they seek out fruit that delivers clean flavours & great balance. Minimal oak is used resulting in Pinot with lifted cherry & ripe strawberry fruit with a nice creaminess on the palate too. 

Caruso Minini Frappato Nerello Mascalese (Siciliy)

A great introduction to Sicily’s greatest red grape variety, Nerello Mascalese. Elegant & light Mascalese is used to craft the fine wines of Mount Etna, often referred to as the Barolo’s of the South. This wee baby Nerello Mascalese & Frappato blend shows sunny, ripe, jammy red fruits, wild strawberry, herbs & a touch of violet. On the palate it is rich, yet refreshing, like cherries in chocolate.

Te Quiero Red Field Blend (Spain)

This wine pours a lovely deep intense purple colour in the glass. Rich ripe, spiced & brambly fruit, pure & mouthfilling with round tannins with a fresh fruit acidity. Organic. Much of Spain’s vineyards are devoted to the commercial grape varieties that we all know & love such as Tempranillo, Garnacha & Syrah, but there are also small plots of older, native varieties such as Graciano, Monastrell & Tinto Velasco that farmers have preserved out of a sense of pride. Today we recognise more & more the value of this diversity & the wealth of flavours of some of these older varieties when they come together in a blend. The small amount of these grapes that remain means it is not possible to vinify them separately so the grapes tend to be harvested together as a Field Blend.
