Description

Elegant, perfumed Nebbiolo form the hills of Valtellina in Italy’s alpine north, bordering Switzerland.

Ar PePe Rosso grapes are from vines more than fifty years old planted over granite soil. First grapes undergo a long, gentle maceration with the skins, before being pressed off to big old chestnut casks.

The Perego family has been growing grapes on the granite terraces of Valtellina since 1860. They work only with Nebbiolo, locally called Chiavennasca. The vines are so far north into the alps they are practically in Switzerland and the resulting fruit is intensely mineral.

Everything is labour intensively done by hand, vineyards are steel and wines are left to settle until ready. No rushing or corner cutting here.

Organic Farming.

Minimal winemaking, native yeast fermentation, bottles unfined and unfiltered.

Vegatarian and Vegam freindly.
