Description
This is a two pack of Jura Chardonnays:
BOULANGER & ALLANTE CHARDONNAY PATARATE 2022
Christian Boulanger worked full-time at Labet for over 15 years, he’s part of the family – a third sibling for Charline, Romain and Julien Labet. Vinification occurs in the basement of an ancient parish – Mathieu lives above – and the approach is minimalistic: whole bunches for the whites while the reds are hand-destemmed, the pressing is slow with the help of a basket press, slow fermentation and long ageing follow in older wooden vessels of different sizes and shapes; there’s no fining or filtration.
RIJCKAERT COTES DU JURA CHARDONNAY LES SARRES
A well-defined but gentle nose, with aromas of apricot, papaya and freshly cut lemon peel, along with a hint of sea salt. The citrus tension pervades on the palate but the structure is full and round with a creamy interior that encompasses white peach, pear and melon. Incredibly fresh with a very linear and pure finish. Florent Rouve is one of many that wasn’t born into winemaking. His father was a geologist which led to a natural interest in nature. After the family moved to the Jura area, he took on a job working as a forest manager of several nearby vineyards. The interest in viticulture bloomed and the rest is history. Florent got his feet wet working with Jean Rijckaert where he continued a minimalist style of winemaking. While he has begun his own label, he still maintains the show stopping wines for Rijckaert. He makes wines in the Jura and Macon regions constantly improving his spirit of tradition and modernism.
