BOULANGER & ALLANTE LA BARDE OXYDATIF (FLOR)

La Barde aka La Bardette is a prestigious lieu-dit and fine terroir in Sud-Revermont (think Domaine Labet). The 90yo vines are planted on shallow red clay topsoil over hard limestone in which many fossilized seashells can be found. Vinified and aged in 228ltr barrels for 24 months, the savagnin spices up the chiselled and beautifully balanced chardonnay, adding impact and depth to the blend – a powerful wine perfectly framed by savoury minerals.

MARNES BLANCHES ‘LES MOLATES’ CHARDONNAY 2022

Lieu-dit Les Molates, assemblage of different parcels on Lias marls in Gevingey (2.3ha), 35yo vines (on average) facing west. Aged in foudres with no bâtonnage, it was bottled in July the following year. This is a very well-balanced wine, with zesty lemony fruit and is the first of the Marnes Blanches chardonnays to open out. Natives of the Jura, both Pauline and Géraud’s families owned tiny plots (used to make wine for home consumption) and spending time in the vines in their childhood was enough to give them the wine bug. The couple met while studying winemaking in Dijon and created Domaine des Marnes Blanches when they returned to the Jura in 2006. They farmed organically from the word go and have added parcels (some they planted) along the way to reach a total of 12ha today, spread across four villages in the Sud-Revermont.

RIJCKAERT ARBOIS SAVAGNIN

A charismatic wine, with a nose that offers well-ripened pears, spicy overtones and a creme patisserie twist, full-bodiedand satisfyingly rich on the palate with an array of orchard fruits, hints of buttery brioche and a fine acidity bringing refreshing tension to the finish. Florent Rouve is one of many that wasn’t born into winemaking. His father was a geologist which led to a natural interest in nature. After the family moved to the Jura area, he took on a job working as a forest manager of several nearby vineyards. The interest in viticulture bloomed and the rest is history. Florent got his feet wet working with Jean Rijckaert where he continued a minimalist style of winemaking.
