Description
Made from a single plot of Merlot, Le Bon Nobel is a wonderful, contemporary red wine from the Bordeaux area of France. Le Bon Nobel is barrel fermented and matured in French oak for 16 months. Blackberry, plum, hazelnut, truffle, and cedar oak are among the characteristics that contribute to its rich and nuanced bouquet. The flavour is well-balanced and smooth, with a lengthy, gratifying finish. Decanting is advised since this opens up nicely with a little air.
The estate is named after the Picoron family that continued winemaking from 1570. Since 2015, the winery celebrates the future of Bordeaux with its new Australian owners Glenda and Frank Kalyk. They explore the potential of the great grape of Merlot, with the contraints of the Bordeaux region, its varietals and the changing climate, being the very catalyst for their creation. Each wine is produced from single plot grapes, with vineyards grown on famous St Emillion clay and limestone ridge.
