Description

A selection of Chardonnay dominant wines from our focus on the region of Jura.

This pack features 3 white wines from 3 of our favourite producers, with a focus on the Chardonnay variety. Suited to your tasting group of with a dinner event. These are wines to discuss and to be paired with food.

From Domaine Labet we have the Cuvee de Garde 2019: 95% Chardonnay, 5% Savagnin. The Cuvée de Garde is an oxidative wine aged under flor made from Chardonnay and Savagnin whose average age varies between 30 and 60 years. The grape varieties are aged in old oak barrels, under flor in old barrels of 228 litres for 24 to 48 months. The presence of oxygen in the barrels allows the development of a veil of yeast (called flor) on the surface which offers the characteristic aromas of hazelnuts, walnuts and spices of Jura wines.

From Amelie Guillot Chardonnay 2021: Amélie Guillot studied winemaking in Burgundy and took over a tiny 3.8 hectare vineyard in the small hamlet of Molamboz outside Arbois in 1995. She works alone, working manually both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Her Poulsard and Savagnin come from small plots of vines planted in 1954.

Characterized by pure freshness, this Chardonnay is delicate with lemon, mineral and stone fruit notes. Aged for twelve months in barrels, it develops mineral notes and citrus nuances.

Lastly from Domaine de la Tournelle the 2020 Terre de Gryphees Chardonnay. An exceptional, mineral led expression of chardonnay that proves just how good non-topped up Jura Chardonnay can be. A great alternative for adventurous Puligny Montrachet lovers, taught, fresh and citrus fruit led with added complexity from 2 years in old oak barrel before release.
