Fresh ripe red from Alex & Maria Koppitsch in Austria. We loved this when taste in the Loire in January, it’s plush blackcurrant and cherry fruit mixes with a subtle balsamic note, lovely summer, picnic red.
The grapes (about 80% Zweigelt and 20% St Laurent) were destemmed, and fermented naturally on skins for 8 days. no additives. no temperature control. Then they were pressed and the juice was pumped into stainless steel tanks (Zweigelt + St.Laurent) and large acacia barrels (Zweigelt). The wines matured on lees for 16 months without any additives. Then they were blended together shortly before they were bottled unfined and unfiltered with the addition of only 5mg of sulphur.
