Our selection of two fantactic examples of Chilean and Argentinian red wine.
The light, mineral and aptly named Granite Pinot Noir from Matetic paired with Paul Hobbs Vina Cobos Bramare Malbec from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina.
The first wine is the Matetic EQ Granite Pinot Noir, it has its origin in Chile’s Casablanca Valley, 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean. This vineyard is managed according to organic and Biodynamic principles in every stage of vine growing, producing high-quality grapes with a strong sense of place. Matured for 14 months in French oak the EQ Granite Pinot Noir is an intense violet-red in colour, displaying aromas of red fruit, cherries and strawberries with earthy, mineral notes. The palate is delicate, complex and concentrated, with well-balanced acidity and supple tannins.
The second wine is Vina Cobos Bramare Malbec. A big but balanced Argentinian Malbec from winemaker Paul Hobbs. Very intense aromas of pepper, cloves, cinnamon and other spices, along with black fruits and roses. It is a complex wine, long and structured; Wide and firm tannins and a long end with a lovely red fruit aftertaste.
