Description
Aromatic, dry Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc showing complex fruit character. Shows a little tropical fruit with citrus so a step back from NZ Sauvignon but still fruit forward.
Domaine Patrick Vauvy has been in the hands of the Vauvy family for four generations. It is set above the banks of the Cher, on the deep sand of the south-facing slopes of Noyers. Winemaker Patrick Vauvy is continually striving to improve the vineyards and cellar and is not afraid to experiment. Yields are controlled through pruning and thinning, only ripe fruit is harvested and he is often the last of his neighbours to start his harvest. Vinifications are at controlled temperatures in a range of thermo-regulated stainless steel and fibreglass vats in the estate’s recently extended and updated winery. Vines are planted on chalky, sandy soil with calcareous subsoil. Producing Sauvignon Blanc in the majority, Patrick Vauvy’s unique approach results in wines that are outstanding and appealingly atypical.
