Description
This is a unique dessert wine from the Greek island of Samos, made from Muscat grapes. Vin Doux is a speciality of this island and the overwhelming majority of grapes are planted to making this sweet wine. Muscat is reknowned for its vibrant floral and fruity aromas which are further intensified and concentrated through a process of sun-drying, which gives the wine a richly sweet, and exotically perfumed character. The palate is lusciously motuhcoating and the sweetness evokes fleshy apricot, peach and honeydew melon, while a refreshing lemon peel acidity provides balance.
This is a great alternative to other classic after-dinner sweet wines, and there are so many pairings that will really elevate this delicious Vin Doux. Creamy desserts like Creme Brulee or Pannacotta; salty blue cheese; rich chocolate tarts; or even pastry-led desserts like Baklava are all fair game!
