Description
Spergle is made with the rarer Italian grape variety of Spergola hence the name. Slight skin contact gives the white wine depth & a touch of refreshing bitterness as well as a hazy appearance when poured in the glass. On the palate there are notes of lemon skin, quince, wildflower honey, banana bread & peach. This is not an amber or tannic orange wine: the maceration is short but lasts just long enough to give the wine more body & a vague tannic memory like tea leaves.
This is from an organic & biodynamic vineyard, the wine itself is unfined & unfiltered to preserve as much flavour as possible without stripping the wine of anything. We are big fans of interesting Italian whites that let the native grape varieties really shine & this is one of them. Enjoy!
